How much does it cost to paint a 3-bed house in Dublin?
Our source price book doesn't publish a single whole-house figure — scale the per-room rates instead: €10–€20/m² for walls, €12–€35/m² for ceilings, or a day rate of €160–€300. A typical 3-bed house has several more rooms than the single 12m² reference room (€300–€600), so ask painters to quote per room or by the day so you can compare quotes like for like.
Asking for a room-by-room or day-rate breakdown, rather than one bundled total, is the only way to compare two painters' quotes fairly — a single lump sum hides what assumptions each one made.
Decide upfront whether you want interior only or interior plus exterior/render — these are priced and scheduled separately, and exterior work depends on access and weather.
Existing paintwork condition matters as much as room count: a house that's never been painted since it was built needs more prep than one being refreshed.
What affects the price
- Number of rooms and their size
- Interior only, or including exterior/render
- Condition of existing paintwork (more prep = more cost)
- Access for exterior work, if included
When to call a pro
Ask for a room-by-room or day-rate quote so you can compare painters fairly.
