What is a digital home logbook, and why keep one in Ireland?
A digital home logbook is a running record of what's been done to your house — every job, every cert, every warranty — kept against the property instead of scattered across inboxes, camera rolls and a drawer of paper invoices. It matters at two moments: when something breaks and you need to know what was installed and when, and when you sell, and a documented history is worth more than a verbal assurance.
Most Irish homeowners already keep a version of this badly: a folder of paper invoices, a few photos of certs on a phone, a vague memory of which year the boiler went in. It works until the moment it has to — a warranty claim, a pre-sale survey, a new trade asking what's already been done — and then nothing is where it should be.
HomeInsight is HomeSorted's version of this, built around six areas: systems & assets (the boiler, the fuse board, logged room by room), documents & evidence (invoices, certs and reports filed against the job they belong to), your Home Team (the trades you've actually used, kept per property), people & permissions (who can see the record), safety (some things — access codes — are never kept on file at all), and work & money (what every job cost, and a running total of what you've invested in the house).
Jobs booked through HomeSorted log themselves automatically — the trade, the date, what was done, the invoice — the moment a trade marks the work complete on WhatsApp. Older work doesn't have to be lost either: a guided Home Scan and a past-improvement entry let you add what was already done to the house before HomeSorted existed.
When it's time to sell, a shareable copy of the record is yours to create and switch off whenever you choose — a documented history of the house, not just a verbal claim about it.
What a real home logbook should hold
- Every job: the trade, the date, what was actually done
- The certs that matter — gas safety, BER, electrical — filed against the job, not loose
- What's still under warranty, and when that warranty runs out
- A running total of what's been spent on the house, and on what
- A way to share the record when you need to — and switch sharing off again
